Dr Abhijit Chattaraj is a GAICD-qualified board director whose defining strength is translating dense, complex material — data, history, research, financial detail — into clear insight that drives action.

 

His approach to technology governance is consistent: strip away unnecessary complexity, reduce barriers to adoption, and ensure the technology serves the decision, not the other way around.

 

He brings the same rigour and discipline to the boardroom — whether it's protecting EBIT through ERP transformations or helping govern loss-making startups through growth to seven-figure monthly turnover.

 

Abhijit excels in forging strong teams, resolving conflict, and distilling constructive input from dissenting voices.

 

His career began in broadcasting and journalism — hosting radio programs in Kolkata and working as a student reporter for national daily The Statesman. A distinct highlight was working alongside Pulitzer Prize finalist Dexter Filkins, when he was Los Angeles Times New Delhi bureau chief. Abhijit has gone on to build three decades of practice across enterprise technology governance and award-winning creative media production.

He finds deep satisfaction in social conscience efforts and serving  community. As President of the Port Phillip Men's Shed, he leads a culturally diverse, all-genders, LGBTQIA+ friendly, not-for-profit community makerspace — offering woodwoork and metal work, gardening, beekeeping, and a communal meal program.

Abhijit speaks four languages –– and learning a fifth; is a 5th Dan Black belt in Taekwon-Do — silver medallist at the 2019 World Championships; and a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, training under the Machado lineage.

In past incarnations, Abhijit has been recognised for his award winning stills photography and cinematography. He continues to nourish his soul through bird photography and woodwork at the Port Phillip Men's Shed.
