Governance & Strategy

Abhijit brings three decades of enterprise technology, transformation, and operating experience to the boardroom.

His governance focus is to keep technology decisions commercially grounded, make sure risks are properly understood, and hold management teams accountable on execution, cybersecurity, AI adoption, and organisational resilience.

A core tenet of his approach is to protect organisations from turning to technology for its own sake. He safeguards enterprise value, sharpens decision quality, and holds technology adoption to a standard of measurable enterprise outcomes.

Abhijit has a PhD in bioinformatics, a Master of Technology in Computer Science, a Bachelor's degree in Commerce with Honours in Accounting, and the AICD Company Director qualification.

He is open to Non-Executive Director appointments.

Speaking

Abhijit has lectured at RMIT University for eighteen years across two faculties––the School of Computer Science and the School of Creative Media.

He regularly presents on a wide range of specialist topics across academic, professional and industry settings. Topics at recent talks include implications of AI governance for boards, digital transformation, the intersection of media, impact of technology on culture, and leadership in multicultural communities.

His style is grounded in practicality rather than abstract futurism, with a focus on what leaders need for effective decision-making.

Abhijit is available for keynotes, panels, executive briefings and workshops where audiences need complex technology and governance issues translated into practical input for decision-makers.

Consulting

Across three decades, Abhijit has advised organisations spanning global technology companies, universities, media organisations and cultural institutions on digital strategy, technology governance, creative production and complex technology-enabled projects.

His work has included competitive intelligence for Microsoft’s SQL Server team, impact assessment for Microsoft's Education Programs Group, and technology and creative direction for the MAGNA award-winning StoryPod installations at the Melbourne Holocaust Museum.

The common thread has been helping organisations reduce complexity, make better technology decisions, and ensuring systems serve stakeholders rather than becoming the focus.

Note: Abhijit's  consulting calendar is currently closed while  he prioritises board appointments.

Author

Abhijit has co-authored two bestselling books on image-making and post-production, in collaboration with his dear friend and mentor, Sony Alpha Brand Ambassador and Adobe Evangelist Mark Galer.

The books, published by Focal Press/Routledge, were designed to make sophisticated, technical workflows accessible to photographers who did not want to become software specialists.

This same translation discipline has carried through the rest of his career: taking difficult technical, creative or strategic material and presenting it in a form that decision-makers and non-specialists can actually use.
